Musculoskeletal Diagnosis

Musculoskeletal Diagnosis & Assessment

Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment. At Activ8 Sports Medicine & Rehab, Alwarpet, Chennai, Dr. Rohit K R provides detailed musculoskeletal assessment to identify the underlying cause of pain, stiffness, weakness, movement problems, and sports injuries.

What Is Musculoskeletal Assessment?

A musculoskeletal assessment looks at how your bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and surrounding tissues are functioning. Instead of focusing only on where you feel pain, the assessment also considers movement patterns, strength, mobility, stability, and other factors that may be contributing to the problem.

Areas We Assess

Our clinical assessment covers problems affecting:

  • Shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand
  • Hip and groin
  • Knee
  • Ankle and foot
  • Neck and upper back
  • Lower back
  • Sports and activity-related movement problems

What Does the Assessment Include?

Depending on your condition, your assessment may include:

  • Detailed medical and injury history
  • Clinical musculoskeletal examination
  • Range of motion assessment
  • Strength and muscle-girth measurements
  • Joint stability and functional testing
  • Movement and biomechanical assessment
  • Gait and running assessment
  • Postural assessment
  • Region-specific special tests
  • Validated outcome-score assessment

Validated Outcome Measures

Where appropriate, validated scoring systems can help establish a baseline and track changes during rehabilitation. These may include IKDC, QuickDASH, iHOT, FAAM, ODI, NDI, PRTEE, PRWE, and HAGOS.

When Are Investigations Needed?

Not every musculoskeletal problem requires an MRI, X-ray, or other investigation. At Activ8, investigations are recommended when they are clinically appropriate and likely to provide information that changes the treatment plan.

Track Your Recovery

Diagnosis is not a one-time process. Your condition can be reassessed throughout rehabilitation, allowing changes in pain, strength, movement, and function to be measured over time.

The goal is to understand what is causing your problem, establish where you are starting from, and create a clear pathway toward recovery and improved function.
